Possum Kingdom (possums not actually involved)

This is a bit delayed, but I thought I would still share.  Weekend before last, the boyfriend and I flew up to Dallas to spend the weekend with his family at their lakehouse.  We were SO excited for a mini-vacation and for a tiny break from school.

(Mark is in medical school too, so neither of us have lives.  Although, he has it worse than me right now because he's studying for the first part of our licensing boards which is probably the hardest test known to man.  Literally, two years of medical school on one eight hour exam.  And yes, they will ask you what that one sentence was from paragraph 4 of page 453 from that one book that you read the 2nd week you started school.  Poor thing studies nearly 15 hours a day, but it helps that I had to do it last year...  so, when he's a little crazy, I forgive him.  I can't even imagine how he put up with me while I studied for it last year, bless his little heart.)

Anyway, our weekend consisted of lots of delicious food, a day out on the lake tubing/skiing/getting burnt to a crisp, canoeing/kayaking, tennis, beer, and a round of golf.  By round of golf, I mean Mark and his roommate/my boy bff played golf while I sat on the golf cart and took pictures of them and tried to not do anything to get yelled at.

Here's a few pictures from our trip.  There aren't any of me water skiing because I am far too uncoordinated to do that without killing myself.  I did, however, get on the tube but bf failed at taking photos.

Yes, this is my golf outfit.
I was warned to not make noise while shooting.
Loveeee him - he told me this pose was stupid.

Our weekend seems very relaxing, right??

WRONG.

There was a killer on the loose.

Yes, that is the biggest spider I've seen in my life and it was merely inches from my face.

IT HAD HAIR.  SPIDERS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAIR.

Anyway, it's still alive out there somewhere because everyone was too scared to try to kill it.  If you're in the north Texas area, be careful.   You've been warned.

Day 2

Day 2 - Meaning behind your blog name.

I feel like this is rather obvious/self-explanatory once you watch the following educational video:

Couldn't have said it better myself.

If you paid close attention, you can see that the white coats in the video are actually quite long.  As for the title of my blog, the short part of it is referenced during the song - "other schools with shorts look like utter noobs."  That would be my school.  (However, mostly all of the medical schools in Texas give their medical students short white coats to distinguish us from doctors in the hospital who can actually save your life in a medical emergency.)  I'm perfectly happy looking like a noob.  In fact, wearing a long white coat seems rather terrifying at this point.  That fear should probably go away seeing as how I'm not that far from getting a long white coat of my own.  It'll go away, right?

So, welcome to my blog - all about my life in a short white coat.

Day 1 - Inaugural Post

After much internal struggle and several months years of blog-stalking some of my favorite ladies from college, I've finally jumped on the blogging bandwagon.

So, in order to spark my creativity, I decided to do a 30 Day Challenge just to make sure I had ideas about what to write about.  Let's be honest - I probably won't actually blog every day, but hey... it's good to have goals

Day 1: A photo and 5 interesting facts

1.  I'm 24 and I'm a professional student.  By "professional student", I mean I'm in my 20th year of school and I have no job and I make no money.  In fact, I pay to do slave labor work everyday.  I feel like there's something wrong with this picture. Why did I want to be a doctor again?

2.  I hate peanut butter.  It may be a little early to throw this out there.  If I lose you as a follower, I understand.  I know it's un-American, weird, blasphemous, etc. - but just the smell of it makes me want to vomit.  Peanut butter cookies?  No thanks.  PB&J sandwiches?  I'll pass.

3.  I have an uncanny ability to memorize the lyrics to any song I hear and remember them for life*. Try me. *not an exaggeration If only this ability translated into a magical ability to remember all of the medical knowledge I try to put in my head.  Sorry CPR training, there's no room for you.  You're trying to sit in *NSYNC's spot in my brain.  Oh hey, bleeding man! You need me to suture that for you? Why don't I just sing you some Garth Brooks instead.

4.  I want a pet penguin. (I also wanted a lap giraffe until I realized it isn't real.) I ask the boyfriend for one on pretty much a daily basis.  If you need an explanation, refer to this: I want.

5. If you want to make me happy, go buy me a snow cone.  Easy as that.
